July highlights

An abbreviated version due to going on holiday (sorry, sorry!)

Congrats everyone who took part in the 4th race of the Club Handicap series..

Forest Farm. The one where runners in previous years have got lost (more about that later)...

We had a big turnout with 29 taking part including 2 guests, Ellen and Ben, we hope you both enjoyed. Ian B took the win running in with Daniel and Phil R who were both taking it easy with a training run. So second place went to Darren, followed closely by Mark F.

After the race a big group re-hydrated and re-fulled at Kegbelly.

Back to the getting lost!

We had 2 this year, I'll mention no names, one finished running a extra mile, the other didn't finish, but was found safe and sound in the carpark. Phew! I've made a mental note for next year, to write L&R on certain individuals hands 😉

The penultimate race is in Bute park on the 28th August.

Thanks to those who helped and James H and Harry T for the photos..

SSAFA 5k Race Results..

Wednesday night’s SSAFA race coincided with the South Wales regional 5K Championships.

We had less attending than the previous races (it sold out before the night!) in the series but we had a number of great results.

Sarah was the only lady running for us but she came away with a SILVER medal for the V35 category along with a new PB!

James H was third overall in the series and finished in 15:32. He also got a GOLD in the South Wales V35 category, followed by Andy taking  SILVER.

As the first three overall were all V35, Andy claimed the V35 series win.

It was well supported with fellow members on the side cheering and taking photos & videos. Thanks to Del, Cat, Karen, Harry T, Tom B, Tom W and Ron.

There were PBs for Dan L, James W and Ryan.

Congratulations to....

The Valley View 10km where Ron ran a 51:01 and was first V70  Amazingly, Ron was 75th out of 444 runners!

Cosmeston Relay Runners - Our first team home finished in second place overall and won the masters 35 to 44 category. Well done James, The Ox and Andy G.

In the Masters 45-54 we had another second place team; Ian O, Kev and Matt T.

In the 55+ group, third place finishers were Tony, Ian B & Phil B.

In the ladies categories, Sarah, Aisling & Charlotte just missed out on third place in the 35-44 category, whilst in the 45 to 54 category, Susannah, Becks and Rowena just missed out on first place by nine seconds.

A full breakdown of San Dom at parkrun are on the club's facebook pages (thanks Andy for updating ALL the time, appreciated).

Porthcawl 10k - Ryan broke 40mins and bagged himself the only PB of the day. Other notable performances came from Jonathan P, JC, James W and Chris O who all recorded a course or season’s best.

There were a number of fantastic times too, with James H in the top 20 and Chris & Paul Joshua not too far behind.

Tremorfa parkrun takeover - This month included a volunteer takeover at Tremorfa parkrun. We had pacers from 19 to 34 minutes and marshal roles around the course, organised by member Tom Baker who is also one of the Tremorfa run directors.

We had 18 running and 10 marshalling, including Rachel who celebrated her 100th parkrun as the 32 minute pacer.

The 109 runners were also offered an ice pop at the end courtesy of Cat, who brought down a freezer box full whilst pacing 30 minutes. Safe to say, that went down VERY well - even getting a cheer at the start line!

And finally...

ree

We hope everyone's enjoying the summer season: training sessions as normal, and as always run at your own pace, enjoy the city's routes and get some miles in those legs!
